Now. . . I Had a Reason for Drinking

Until he discovered his <emphasis type="underline">real</emphasis> handicap

AFTER BEING dry in AA for nearly two years, I considered myself armed with enough self-knowledge to be able to control my drinking. After all, there was too much to see and too much to do before I stopped drinking completely. I wasn't that bad yet. In the next three years, the progression of the disease took me through hospitals, jails, divorces, loss of jobs, and loss of my eyesight.
