An End to Envy

If you're a grandma at a meeting full of young people, your thoughts may run a crazy course

OH GOD, I sit here at the AA meeting like a wrinkled old prune and look at all these gorgeous kids, about my grandchildren's age. Say what you will, there's a double generation gap. Of course, we're all talking about the AA program. And I know some of them and like them a lot. Attending this particular meeting is usually very beneficial and gratifying. But almost everybody in this room is young. So many of the old-timers are gone. Occasionally, I'm seized with this feeling that I'm old, gray, and all alone. (You're bathing yourself in bathos. Be quiet.)
