Living With Fear. . .And Without

It was just as dangerous when it came disguised as anger or mere embarrassment

EARLY IN MY sobriety, an old-timer departed from accepted, or suggested, AA procedure and took my inventory. It was very short. It consisted of one sentence. He said, "Sam, why don't you quit trying to be somebody else?" He turned away and was lost in the crowd milling about at the end of the rather large meeting. I had been one of the speakers.
