I have just finished my first year of sobriety. It isn't, the first time that I've had a year, but it is the first time I have celebrated. Old habits die hard. I had the urge to just let it slip by with no mention, but I have people that love me (a sober me). They weren't about to let me act like it was just another day. First, there were birthday cards in the mail, then a friend with a necklace for my first year. If I drink again, I deserve to be drunk.
