On AA groups in institutions

I've been volunteering in an alcoholic recovery hospital. I had an AA discussion group with the patients and took them to outside meetings. There was also an ' 'alumni" meeting of former patients. I was elected secretary of the Sunday-night speakers meeting, a regular AA open meeting. Hospital personnel were getting the speakers, selecting the leaders, and in general managing things. They were AA members, too, and I thought nothing of this until there was a movement in the alumni group to have the Sunday group contribute money to help defray volunteers' expenses. I objected strenuously, and the idea was dropped.
