When I came to you, I was full of self-hate. I was confused, sick, and alone. You loved me when I couldn't look at myself in a mirror. For a long time, no one had wanted me around. You asked me to come back and even offered me transportation. All my life, I had never felt understood or like I fit in anywhere. You understood and helped me fit in. When my ego ran wild, you straightened me out, not with criticism, but with love and understanding, tolerance and guidance. When I hurt for a drink or with fears in the middle of the night, you welcomed my phone calls and calmed my desire and my fears. I had long ago left my Higher Power, and you guided me back to Him in a new and better way. When I could not lead myself, you led me. When I began to grow and change, you all helped me. You shared my joys and my sorrows.
