Humanity--Not Statuary

When I allowed others to put me on a pedestal, I found that the precious principle of humility was missing. When I was on a pedestal, it was unnecessary to continue taking my own inventory. I liked the recognition, as I had received so little of it in my drinking days, and my place in the sun was long overdue--or so I thought. But the sun became too hot, and the truth came out.
