Friends and Fellow Passengers

THE SANTA FE Chief had just pulled out of the station heading west; I was aboard and comfortably seated in She club car. My destination was Hollywood, where I hoped to do some business with several film companies. We were a few minutes out of Chicago when the vestibule door opened, admitting a fellow passenger stoned to the eyebrows. It was not surprising when he proceeded to the bar and ordered a doubleheader. The gentleman next to me remarked it was a bit early for a doubleheader. I concurred and introduced myself.
