Hands off Chapter 5

I was glad to read the article "Rarely--or Never?" in the December issue. I feel very strongly how disastrous it would be to substitute "Never have we seen a person fail. . ." The only way such a statement could be true would be if we were to insist that everyone who fails is to blame, and that those who succeed are somehow more virtuous. We know this isn't true. The word "rarely" in this context is another example of the extraordinary wisdom, modesty, and good judgment of the authors of the Big Book. Too many people these days seem to want to rewrite it.
