But I Was Still Not Drinking

When he quit going to meetings, even his dog (and cats) wouldn't come to him

THERE WAS NOT a conscious thought that I would quit going to meetings and do it on my own. It sort of just happened. I had been sober a year and a half, and I decided I was cured. I faded on a few meetings, got too busy with other stuff the way we do, and there I was--adrift and alone. The first time I noticed a difference was one morning over the grapefruit when my wife sat looking at me quizzically.
