Here in Sri Lanka, AA has been functioning for the past fifteen years. Most of our meetings are held in Catholic church halls, which are free of rent, and one or two are held in the halls of Buddhist societies, also free of rent. Even though Sri Lanka is a Buddhist country, the majority of AA membership is Christian. Perhaps there are sociological reasons for this phenomenon. Happily, AA is growing rapidly and reaching different socioeconomic and religious layers, and the problem drinker is fast realizing that AA has an answer to his problem, notwithstanding his religious beliefs--or lack of them.
