I CAME INTO the AA program when I was eighteen, back in 1965. Young people weren't the largest group around. In fact, there weren't any AAs my age. No one drank the way I did. Trying to identify on the physical level was hopeless. I was even told I didn't belong in AA, because I was too young and hadn't been drinking long enough.
