Sense and nonsense on the road to recovery

WE'LL CLOSE with something that may sound familiar to all of you out there. It concerns an alcoholic who was lying in a gutter, nearly passed out. Finally, he opened his eyes and saw another inebriate, on rubbery legs, clinging to a nearby lamppost. "If I ever get that bad," he told himself, "I'll quit."
