Sense and nonsense on the road to recovery

IN A SIMILAR VEIN, S. C. of Florida relates a true story about a visit she made to an AA group in an institution. It was the custom there to give different-colored poker chips for various periods of sobriety--white for three months, red for six, etc. She was the speaker at the meeting and half-humorously suggested that it would be wise practice for a member to put his chip in his mouth and wait until it dissolved before reaching for that first drink.
