Commitment to Others

TO ME, BEING a loner was a point of pride as well as a matter of practice. I had always had a great deal of contempt for what I termed herd mentality. Therefore, when I came into AA, I was determined not to ally myself completely with any group for fear of sacrificing my precious individuality. This attitude was one of many I insisted on retaining during the first two and a half years of my sobriety.
