Airborne AA meeting

I flew home from Christmas vacation on a New Year's Eve flight, and all passengers were "well on their way." The couple next to me persisted in offering to buy me a drink. Their insistence and the loneliness of leaving my family were beginning to cause me great discomfort. So I reached in my bag and took out Dr. Bob and the Good Oldtimers. Tears made the reading difficult, but I felt somewhat better just holding the book in my hands, while trying to recite the Serenity Prayer in my mind. One day at a time had become one second at a time.
