SPEAKING OF TOGETHERNESS: F. D. of Ohio submitted an anecdote about a handyman who worked in a small-town factory. He had a drinking problem, which often caused him to forget to wind his watch. One of his jobs was to blow the noon whistle; so every mid-morning, he'd phone the local telephone operator to ask the time and set his watch.
