On AA and prescribed drugs

The psychiatrist R. S. concludes from a small sample of attempted suicides by drug- and alcohol-free patients that those attempts would not have occurred had proper medication been administered. But any observer properly trained in the scientific method knows a control group must be used for comparison--in this case, patients who have been prescribed "safe, nonaddictive" drugs and have also attempted suicide.
