His AA program needs a general overhaul

I CAME TO AA with only one goal--to stop drinking. I worked at this. I listened to other members. I refused to keep alcohol in the house. I avoided drinking situations, and there were days when, if possible, I avoided walking or even driving by bars. If it was necessary to attend any function where drinks were available, I psyched myself up to avoid drinking. And I prayed daily for sobriety--often many times a day. Perhaps I was ridiculous, for I even trained myself not to look at highway billboards lest I be tempted by the beer bottle with the beads of condensation inviting me for "just one." Gratefully, not through these efforts alone, I am sure, but with the support of AA and my Higher Power, I received the gift of sobriety.
