I, too, used to resent these "specialized" groups. When I came into AA, I was young, and yet I resented it when a young people's group was started in my hometown. I wanted to be a part of the whole program, and not set aside in some way. So, from the beginning, I simply did not attend any kind of "exclusive" groups, after visiting a few of them.
