Lifting the Obsession

He noticed that the craving for a drink had left him

WHEN I CAME to AA in February 1961, I was agnostic and very closed-minded. I hoped that I could stay sober without the "religion" I heard other AA members talking about. But after two slips in my second year, I began to feel like a loser. After the second slip, I was still fighting the obsession to drink, and it was taking its toll both physically and mentally.
