The first thing I looked for when becoming sober in a hospital was the secret of staying sober on the outside. I knew that I was safe in the hospital, but soon I would be back on the street, faced with the big temptation of drinking. I read, went to meetings, saw films, listened to my sponsor, did everything I was told to do, to the best of my ability, but still I longed for the one secret of sobriety.
