I am often over impressed when I hear the number of years of sobriety different members of AA have attained. I revert to old ideas, such as "Big is better," becoming blinded to the real message that long-term sobriety presents. In those moments, I place numbers before principles, thereby doing a terrible injustice to two people I owe love and respect: my fellow member and myself.
