Lost and Found

I NEVER LIKED the word "sacrifice." I guess I was never that generous a person through all my drinking years, but in addition to that, the word conjured up in my mind sacrificial offerings in a religious sense. I pictured people bringing all their worldly goods to be placed on an altar in order to obtain something from God or to ward off some kind of disaster or punishment.
