From what I hear at meetings, there's overwhelming evidence that nearly every member of AA has at least one other addiction, habit, trouble-causing quirk, or obsession, secondary to alcohol, but equally incapacitating or destructive. I have several. Though none of mine involve or involved drugs, I can readily recognize the suffering and struggle the addiction to any drug can cause. And I can easily admire, honor, and applaud with joy a triumph over an obsession or personal difficulty of any kind.
