Once Over Lightly

Sense and nonsense on the road to recovery

THE TEXAN got cut down to size, and so--according to a joke from the New Reporter--did a chap who worked in Manhattan and lived on Staten Island. One day after work, he just missed a ferryboat home, so he went to a bar for some drinks while he waited for the next one. When it was about due, he went back to the pier and, to his dismay, saw that the ferry was about ten feet away from the dock. In desperation, he made a running jump and barely landed on the deck.
