The Discovery of Hearing

By listening, we can find answers to questions we don't know enough to ask

ONE OF THE most precious gifts I have received in sobriety is the ability to listen, which in turn led to the discovery of hearing. This evolution in character began early in sobriety. It was evident that I knew all there was to know about drinking but was in full ignorance about not drinking. As former vice-president in charge of misinformation (aided and abetted by alcohol, of course), I was suddenly struck dumb.
