Help Is As near As the Nearest Meeting

I SUPPOSE I should have been at least a little scared when I attended my first AA meeting, over two years ago. Two circumstances kept me from being frightened. First, my mind was still too hazy from booze to really appreciate what was going on around me; and second, the only feeling I was capable of at the time was relief that at last I was with other people like myself who had to admit that they could not handle alcohol.
