Self-knowledge can bring freedom and peace
WHEN I WAS a drinking alcoholic, I did not understand my own actions. I did not do the things I wanted to do, but the very things I hated. I could will to do what was right, but I could not do it. When I resisted drinking, I also struggled against disorders deep within me--and my resistance collapsed.
