A Hand Out

MY SPONSOR (with many twenty-four hours of sobriety) and I (with seven months) arrived early for the meeting. The telephone rang, and I picked it up. Yes, we had an AA meeting at eight o'clock, and we would look forward to seeing whoever it was. My sponsor said it might be the girl who had been talking with her on the phone earlier in the day. It was, for she came through the door a few moments later, having driven past the meeting place three times, as she later told us. When my sponsor introduced herself, the girl broke down and wept on her shoulder.
