The Name Is Skid Road
From the November 1954 Grapevine
I HAVE A RESENTMENT and feel the best way to dispose of it is via the Grapevine. The resentment is against people who use the term "skid row" for "skid road." The original skid road came about in connection with logging by oxen in the Northwest. The first logs, before the turn of the century, were dragged by oxen to the mill or pond.
