ON A LIVELIER NOTE: A chap who dwelt too long in a tavern was weaving his way homeward when he met a neighbor's wife, who stopped him for a chat. The woman had her dog on a leash, and every time the animal came near him, the man sidled away from it. Finally, the woman said, "Don't be afraid. He won't bite you."
