I don't know how it is in the U.S.A., but I've found here that after two or three weeks' absence of new members (up to two years), people start to phone: "Just wondered how things were with you." That's not so for older members. Anyone in AA for, say, five years or more gets no phone calls. People say, "Haven't seen X. Wonder how he (or she) is." But no one actually asks.
