In defense of 'special groups'

A special-interest group for gay men and women is an AA meeting; members discuss their alcoholism. I feel more comfortable at a meeting where I know there isn't going to be any prejudice or judgment about my sexuality. At an AA meeting for gays, confused newcomers are able to deal with their alcoholism assisted by their peers, not feeling they have to hide a major portion of their lives at the same time.
