Sense and nonsense on the road to recovery

A STORY FROM S. K. of South Carolina concerns his sponsor, back in the latter's drinking days. One night, the pre-AA souse was staggering around his rural town, blind drunk. Finally, he came out of his alcoholic fog enough to realize that he must have wandered into the woods outside the town; he was lost in a thick growth of pines. He was so tired and befuddled that he decided to stay put until daylight.
