I have been very sick all my life, long before I drank. After three years without a drink, depressions still come at least three times a year. In early sobriety, about all I could do was wonder, "What am I doing wrong?" I got sick of hearing, "What Step are you on?" and "Let go and let God" and "You enjoy pain. You don't want to get well." (All those things may be true.) People hated to see me coming.
