Withdrawal

WHEN I CAME to AA, ten years ago, I stayed sober but living in the past. I was introverted, lonely, and egotistical, thought I knew it all, and would not share a thought or a feeling with anyone. I built a wall around myself so strong that no one could penetrate it. But I couldn't get out of it. I withdrew into myself, just as I had done when I was drinking, and I disguised this by putting up a false front and becoming the "dedicated" member of AA.
