A new way to HALT

On my fourteenth anniversary in AA--fourteen months, that is--I paused to take stock of what I had learned of the program and what I had learned from it. I thought about what I used to be like, what happened, and what I was like now. I thanked my Higher Power for those few little indications of progress. I also found myself reviewing many of those little sayings that become so familiar so quickly but require so much effort to practice: "Easy Does It"; "one day at a time"; "Let go and let God"; "When you can't let go, hang on."
