First Meetings--A Life-or-death Matter

In the British Columbia/Yukon Area, it is the custom, when a member has been sober one year, to present him or her with a birthday cake and a card. This is usually done at the group meeting closet to the anniversary date. The chairman announces what will happen, and then a card is passed among all those present to be signed.
