How to Get Off Your Plateau and Into the Program

WHEN I WENT to my first AA meeting, three years ago, I very little going for me other than an overpowering willingness to do anything needed to patch up the remains of an ailing life. John Barleycorn had done his work well. My lovely wife of thirteen years was making preparations to file for divorce. My children were routinely circling apartment listings in the local papers to show their mother, even though we lived in one of the nicest houses in the neighborhood.
