GOING BACK IN TIME: In the past century, in the days of the old horse-drawn, smoke-belching fire engines, two hard-drinking skid row residents took a room for the night in a flophouse. In the middle of the night, there was a commotion in the street outside. One wino ran to the window and saw two fire engines dash by, with smoke and sparks flying. He shook his friend awake and cried, "Come and look! They're moving hell, and two loads have gone by already!"
