Trust It. It Works.

I HAD BEEN in the program only a few short weeks when a mind-paralyzing thought occurred to me: "What will I do if a real calamity happens in my life before I have enough of the program digested to help me handle it?" I expressed that worry to an AA friend, and she told me, "Your Higher Power will never let anything happen in your life that you cannot handle." She stood there cloaked in serenity, faith, and strength. I felt none too comfortable; I had none of those desirable qualities, and I was doubtful of her words. But I remembered them and hoped that she was right.
