In regard to M. L.'s idea of sending extra Grapevines to inmates (letter, January issue): I recently sent an old copy to someone I'm writing to through the AA General Service Office's Institutions Correspondence Service--and the Grapevine was confiscated! I wrote to the prison, and they informed me that only materials delivered directly from AA could be given to inmates--not materials from individuals. I'd suggest getting an okay from the institution officials before attempting to send a Grapevine, since rules vary from place to place.
