In sobriety, the present can transform the past

RED AND I came into the AA program at about the same time. He had been regarded by many as the most hostile, aggressive, and unpredictable man in town. I would have agreed with that evaluation when I first met him, but he changed over a short period of time. Some of those who knew him disliked him for many reasons, and called him a hood. The media called him what the state police had labeled him, "public enemy number one"--in front page headlines. He had earned both of those titles--and perhaps a few more.
