A Lifetime Proposition

Our spiritual program of recovery is

THERE WAS an early period on the program when the dulling influence of booze was not there to smooth out all the worries, doubts, and problems that dry reality and my overactive and fearful imagination created. These I term the white-knuckle days. During this time when I wanted very much to drink and yet could sense the dream of what could be, I memorized "How It Works" from the fifth chapter of the Big Book.
