Sense and nonsense on the road to recovery

SPEAKING OF REFRESHMENTS: D. M. of Michigan contributed a tale about a farmer who poured himself a tall mug of beer at the end of a hot day's work. Carrying the glass, he walked down to check the rural mailbox on the road in front of his house. Just as he got there, he heard the phone ringing in his home. Not wanting to spill the beer, he put it inside the mailbox and ran back to the house. After answering the call, he started back to pick up his mail and, to his surprise, saw the RFD mailman gulping down the mug of beer.
