I Almost Lost My Job--Sober

I finally quit my job of eleven years the day I came to AA in 1979. Since then, I have had five jobs and that many periods of unemployment. I kept my shaky sobriety until May 3, 1982, when the pressure was so great, I picked up a drink. Usually loud and boisterous at meetings, I talked very softly at my next meeting when asking to become a part of the group again.
