The Language of AA

AAs use a lot of language: the literature; the talk in meetings, coffee shops, and homes; presentations and seminars at conferences. Being in AA is to be in a bath of language. What impresses me is the incredible variety of purposes our AA language serves. It gives information, offers solace, and at times takes the form of unexplained ritual. On a real level, each member's language is his or her worldly key to the program.
