Rotation: Our Responsibility

A GROUP OF people who had ten or more years of sobriety decided to start an open Saturday night meeting in my hometown, and asked me to participate. I was thrilled, because I had had only two years on the AA program. My sponsor was in the group, and he made sure that it had a steering committee, a chairman, a secretary, a treasurer, and a GSR (general service representative), and that the length of each commitment was set forth. We had our new group listed at the AA central office in Chicago and at GSO (the AA General Service Office) in New York. Everything was done right--whereupon my sponsor sat back and relaxed.
