The story "The Outsider" in the August Grapevine touched my heart and filled me with pain. I have been around AA for twenty-three years and have gone to many meetings, large and small. At one of my first meetings, I was told we are all equal and are here for one purpose only, and that is to try to get our lives in order, so we can make others happy and be free again. When I see someone come in the door for the first time, I make every effort to make him or her welcome.
